Pete Sturgess visits Academy on CPD training day

Pete Sturgess – a National FA Foundation Phase Lead Coach – visited Poolfoot Farm and the club’s Academy on Monday night in a special CPD workshop.

With Fleetwood Town’s Academy looking to go Category Two in the near future, Pete’s visit gave the staff and the players an insight into what the next stages would look like if the club reached that level.

The club’s coaches got to work with the Foundation Phase Coach and worked on a matter of topics. In addition to this, coaches from local grassroots club from around the Fylde Coast were invited to the session to help build relations with the Academy.

The club’s Under 10s and 14s worked closely with Pete on the night, focusing on the constraints in small-sided games, but also to give coaches a chance to look at sessions and how to be variant to suit a specific age group.

Sturgess consistently engaged with all the coaches from the first minute to the last, giving them tips and information to take away to their clubs to help progress young players in our community.

The Academy and the club would like to thank Pete for taking time out to attend our session on Monday night, and for spending time with everyone who came to Poolfoot Farm.
