Sir Alex Ferguson Opened the Training Ground in 2016
Sir Alex Ferguson praised the fantastic facilities at Poolfoot Farm after he officially opened the Club’s new training ground on Wednesday 20th April 2016.
The magnitude of the development was clear for all to see on 20th April 2016 when Poolfoot Farm was officially unveiled by the great Sir Alex Ferguson, who was impressed with the facilities built here on the Fylde Coast.
Poolfoot Farm is home to seven top class grass pitches, two FIFA 2-star grade (the highest grade possible) 4G pitches, and four FTFC red 5-a-side pitches, the first team & Academy gym and physiotherapy room, club meeting rooms and a fantastic bar and restaurant.
A number of people from the local community were in attendance to witness the ceremony with the former Manchester United manager.

Ferguson paid tribute to chairman Andy Pilley’s efforts in transforming the Club, and believes the new complex will benefit young footballers.
He said: “It really is fantastic when you see the magnitude of what’s happening at Fleetwood. The facility has surprised me and it’s absolutely superb. I always admire people with a bit of foresight to plan and prove your set-up. From what I’ve seen at Fleetwood it seems exactly like that. There’s an incentive for any kid to come here and practice and improve themselves. This facility certainly lends them to do that. Today’s generation have to have a platform to play and it’s up to clubs to give them the enthusiasm to enjoy football.”

Ferguson was shown around the first class facilities by Chairman Andy Pilley and Chief Executive Steve Curwood, and met a number of supporters who had come along to the event.
Pilley said: “It’s been a fantastic day for the Club. Sir Alex Ferguson was superb and he was genuinely wowed by how wonderful the facility is. It was a first class event and a great honour for us as a Club to have somebody who is a true footballing legend to come along and cut the ribbon. He’s a proper footballing man and is very down to earth. We’ll certainly take his constructive criticism and the pointers he gave us on board. I’m hopeful the masses of people who came along to get his autograph or to just capture a glimpse will be telling everybody what a great facility we have.
